Francyne Jenner

Francyne Jenner was born and raised in Northern California, the third of three girls. She grew up with a father who was an avid outdoorsman and spent many vacations with her family camping and fishing along the Scott and Klamath Rivers. Because of that initial contact with Scott Valley, the family partnered in a local packing company that guided people into the surrounding mountains.
At 21, Francyne became a flight attendant with United Airlines. During the fuel crisis in the 1970s she was laid off and returned to Scott Valley. While staying with her sister in Callahan, California, she met her future husband. She married John Jenner in 1975. Two children followed: Frank in 1977 and Christyne in 1980. Family is the closest thing to her heart, aside from her love of God. She became a Christian along the way, and her love for Christ has grown deeper. She taught Sunday school for many years.
In the mid-1980s, she entered a nursing program and worked for 25 years, mostly in OB/GYN offices but also at the local hospital and in family practice. Francyne and John have six beautiful grandchildren.
Francyne has always been involved in Siskiyou County CattleWomen, along with her husband who became involved in Siskiyou County Cattlemen. They spent many vacations at conventions, keeping up with politics that affect cattle ranchers and agriculture in general. She was named CattleWoman of the Year and received a Pioneering Spirit Award in the 1990s.
Having a passion for beef promotion, she always knew that beef is a nutrient dense and delicious product. This challenged her even more to promote beef. She fell in love with the farmers and ranchers around the county. She believes that ranching “isn’t about the money, but a way of life.” She feels that feeding the nation is a high calling.

Gail Jenner

Gail Jenner, of Etna, CA, is a writer, teacher, and wife of fourth-generation cattle rancher Doug Jenner. She graduated from California State University at Chico with a degree in Anthropology and minors in English and Social Science. It was at CSUC that she also met her cowboy husband.
She taught English and history for 20 years while also writing. She has authored two historical novels and co-authored four local histories, three of which celebrate the "mythical, magical State of Jefferson," in which Etna and Scott Valley are located. A fifth travel guide, Historic Inns & Eateries in the State of Jefferson, features 30 locations in Northern California and Southern Oregon and a chapter of recipes from those locations. She has written for a number of Christian publishers and writes for Jefferson Backroads as well as for NPR/JPR's historical "As It Was" series.
Gail and Doug have three married children and seven grandchildren and live on the original Jenner homestead. A gardener and cook, she has sold recipes to Better Homes & Gardens, Everyday with Rachel Ray, Country Woman Magazine, and A Taste of Home. In addition to writing, she enjoys time on the ranch, working cows on horseback, or being with family and friends. She is a past president of Siskiyou County CattleWomen and 2011 Siskiyou County CattleWoman of the Year; she works as a volunteer librarian and museum curator and believes history is “more than the past…it connects us to who we are today.” Participating in Jenner Family Beef is another way of connecting with family and the community, providing healthy beef to people all over the region, while linking to the history that makes the Jenner Family Beef experience still real today.

Sarah Jenner

Sarah Jenner was born and raised in beautiful Scott Valley. She grew up loving the country and never wanting to leave. She was blessed with wonderful parents. She has two big brothers who helped make her strong and as stubborn as hell! She adores them both. She attended California State University at Chico and then fell in love with her brother’s best friend, Frank Jenner. She and her cowboy were soon married – and four children quickly followed: three cowboys and a little cowgirl! They keep her very busy.
Sarah is busy owning and running her own commercial cleaning business along with providing a home for her hard-working ranching husband and active children. She finds her greatest peace when holding his hand, watching their rug rats at play, and enjoying what God has blessed her with. She also enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing baseball with her family. Faith, family, friends, and all that is connected to those things fill her days, and becoming a partner in Jenner Family Beef allows her the opportunity to build and grow a business that incorporates her strong family values and solid work ethic.
Even still, you’re most likely to find Sarah chasing after her four ranch hands or flirting with her rugged cowboy!

Jenny Jenner

Jenny Jenner is the mother of two busy boys and wife to her guitar-playing, hardworking ranching husband, Nick Jenner. She is an elementary teacher who job shares in a second grade class. She loves working with children and being able to spend time with her sons. When she’s not teaching, she volunteers in her sons’ classrooms and is involved in PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization), is on the School Site Council and is a leader in AWANA Cubbies (a ministry for preschoolers).
Jenny grew up in Lodi, California. There she graduated from Lodi High School and attended Delta Junior College in Stockton. She graduated from California State University at Chico with a degree in Liberal Studies and her elementary credential. Little did she know she’d also meet her cowboy husband and become a country girl.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Nick attended CSUC and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Science. After graduation, they got married and moved up to Etna.
As their love grew, so did their family; in 2005, their oldest son Mark was born, who, like his father and grandfather, has a passion for all things farming. In 2008, Collin was born, and he, too, loves the ranching life – as well as music.
Jenny’s desire to learn about this unique lifestyle became more important as she watched her boys’ curiosity and love of ranching grow. She realized there was much more to ranching and farming than just work; it quickly became apparent that the job was hers, too. As a result, participation in Jenner Family Beef was an important link to life on a five-generation ranch.

Christy Jenner Bartneck

Christy Bartneck is the owner of Dotty’s Restaurant in Etna, CA. She graduated with a degree in Sociology from Chico State University. After graduation, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and worked in a few different trades ranging from an Account Executive in the wireless industry to a Support Specialist doing social work. Eventually she landed a job as a Marketing Manager for a large commercial development company and felt that she had definitely found her niche!
Her greatest accomplishments came after marrying husband Robert in 2007, and welcoming daughter Peyton in 2009. After their daughter was born, Christy and Robert knew it was time for a change! Her heart was calling her home to Etna, where she grew up on a 5th generation cattle ranch and where family was the center of her existence. The biggest challenge to moving back home was finding work in beautiful Scott Valley. After looking into the few business that were for sale during that time, they purchased Dotty’s, recognizing it to be the best match for their family. With little experience in the restaurant industry, however, Christy and her husband dove in head first working hard to make improvements on the grounds and educating themselves on restaurant management 101.
With a passion for food, family, and hard work, Jenner Family Beef was a perfect next step, which has connected her personal and professional goals. The idea of offering healthy beef to consumers, and working with family members in a new business, was a seamless transition towards continuing a legacy of generational integrity. She is currently starting her 3rd year at Dotty’s and 1st Year at Jenner Family Beef. Christy resides in Etna with her husband Robert, daughter Peyton, and newest family member, daughter Lucy!
